Wheels for Kids — Help Us Build Mobility for Children Who Need It

A toddler-sized wheelchair can cost thousands of dollars. For families of kids with disabilities, whose wheelchairs need to be replaced as they grow, the expenses add up fast. Insurance often won't cover mobility equipment for the youngest children — the ones who need it most to explore, play, and develop alongside their peers.

We're changing that, one chair at a time.

What we build

This side project produces 3D-printed Toddler Mobility Trainers (TMTs) — an open-source design originally developed by MakeGood, a nonprofit design lab, in collaboration with TOM (Tikkun Olam Makers). The TMT was created as an affordable, easily-made mobility trainer suitable for younger ages, designed for toddlers and young children with disabilities who lack the physical strength or coordination needed to crawl or walk independently — even though they may be ready to explore and engage with their environment.

The chairs are suitable for children ages 2 to 8, fully customizable, and printed right here on standard 3D printers. Every part — frame, wheels, seat, and straps — is printed and assembled by hand, then fitted to the child who'll use it.

Important: this is not a medical device

We want to be straightforward with you. The TMT is an open-source prototype intended for research, testing, and educational purposes — it is not a certified medical device. Families should consult their child's physician, therapist, or mobility specialist before use. What we build is a mobility trainer — a tool to help young kids experience movement, independence, and play during years that matter for their development.

Where your contribution goes

Every dollar funds materials. We donate the time, the printer hours, the assembly, and the fitting. Your contribution buys filament and hardware.

What you get back

Photos. Updates. The story of which kid your contribution helped move. We close the loop on every build. Please note, it may take weeks to receive photos and/or updates.

This is a charitable initiative of our business, not a registered 501(c)(3). Contributions are not tax-deductible. 100% of donations go toward materials and delivery — no admin overhead, no fees skimmed off the top.
